Adhila Nasreen from Aluva and Fathima Noora from Thamarassery were brought to court after falling in love while studying in class 12 in Saudi and now they have been allowed to live together with the permission of the court. Adhila Nasreen and Fatima Noora were allowed to live together by the Kerala High Court yesterday. The High Court had allowed a habeas corpus petition filed by Adila Nasreen, 22, of Aluva, seeking the extradition of Fathima Noora, 23, of Thamarassery, Kozhikode.
According to the petition, Adhila fell in love with Noora while studying in class 12 in Saudi Arabia. Both graduated from home. During the Kovid period, hundreds of parents were taken to Saudi Arabia. That’s where parents learn about the relationship. Both families opposed the relationship. The petition states that they were physically and mentally abused. But it all survived.
After graduation, the couple decided to go into hiding and live together. The two then got their jobs fixed in Chennai. On May 19, he absconded and sought refuge in a center in Kozhikode following strong opposition from his family. But when the relatives came here and caused trouble, the police intervened.
Later, Adhila’s relatives brought the two to their house in Aluva. However, Adila said that Noora’s relatives came here and forcibly took the girl away and her parents took a pro-government stance. He then approached the High Court to get Noora released.
Adhila’s plea was heard in the High Court yesterday afternoon. The petition filed by Adila was brought to the notice of the court immediately yesterday morning. The court then sought an explanation from the government. The public prosecutor said the two were at the Binanipuram police station with their parents and would be produced in court soon. The couple, who appeared in court, said they wanted to live together. The permit issued by the parents was also produced.
Following this, Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Justice C. A division bench comprising Justices Jayachandran and Adhila Nasreen dismissed the petition stating that there was no legal impediment for two adults to live together.
